Vagina Laser: The non-surgical treatment that “re-virginized”  Kim Kardashian

The Vagina Laser, or VOTIVA, also known as ThermiVa by InMode, is the trending cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates your feminine area without surgery or downtime. Non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation has been a hot topic in Hollywood, with several celebrities endorsing the treatment.

One of the most regarded celebrity endorsements came from Khloe Kardashian, on an episode of Kocktails with Khloe. In a conversation with Botched plastic surgeon, Dr. Terry Dubrow and Real Housewives co-star, Heather Dubrow, Kardashian brought up the treatment she referred to as “vagina lasering.” According to Khloe, her sister Kim is a big fan. Khloe explains: “My sisters, they’ve had kids, and there’s a vagina lasering thing to tighten it…So in all my household, all they do is talk about this vagina laser.”

Dubrow added her celebrity endorsement to Khloe’s saying “It works…It shrinks the inside and it basically … re-virginizes you. It’s like a face-lift of the vagina, kind of.”

Kardashian dermatologist, Harold Lancer, explained the VOTIVA treatment to ELLE magazine. It “uses radio frequency energy to gently heat tissue to rejuvenate collagen.” During the treatment, Lancer explains, “a special wand applicator delivers energy to the external labia and vulvar tissues, helping to restore normal tissue tone and function. The hand piece may also deliver radio frequency energy to the internal vaginal walls to revive both atrophic tissue and other structures.”

Lancer further explains why rejuvenating collagen can improve laxity as well as skin tone and texture.  “Collagen in our skin is like the reinforcing iron mesh in concrete. As we age, this mesh loses strength…Heating the skin can change the collagen by immediately contracting the molecule itself, remodeling or ‘reorganizing’ the molecular network, and stimulating fibroblasts (the cells that build the collagen ‘mesh’) to create new collagen.”
