What are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. These substances will eliminate the appearance of lines around the eyes, eyebrows and forehead. After the injection of any neuromodulator, the muscles will soon become more relaxed and in this way reduce the appearance of dramatic lines.
Medically speaking, a neuromodulator is a substance which blocks messages from nerves being sent to facial muscles. Think of how your forehead reacts when you frown, wrinkles appear in between your brows. When a neuromodulator is injected into this muscle, it is not able to contract, therefore reducing the appearance of frown lines. This is the same when a neuromodulator is injected to other areas of the face.
The effects of neuromodulators gradually take hold over the following 5-7 days post-injection and typically last from 3 to 4 months. You will notice the areas of injection slowly start to contract again as the effects of the Neuromodulators begin to fade. Neuromodulators are great treatments for a wide age range of patients, from mid-20s on. Those who begin this treatment as early as their 20s do so in a form of preventative care – i.e. the less the lines appear, the less deeper set they become over time.
