PDO Threads

A PDO thread lift, also known as a non-surgical facelift, involves using sutures made of polydioxanone to lift sagging facial skin and add volume to the midface by stimulating the production of collagen. Treatments are quick, comfortable, and require little downtime. A PDO thread lift can provide long-lasting improvements and a naturally youthful appearance.

There are two types of PDO threads:

Smooth Threads: These threads need to be attached to a firm surface such as the scalp or face. Smooth threads are most appropriate for correcting wrinkles and creases in the skin.
Barbed Threads: This variety of threads has tiny barbs that attach to the skin and are used primarily for lifting. The number of threads used will depend on the size of the treated area and the desired improvements.

Silhouette InstaLift™

Thread Lift Candidates

Candidates for a thread lift should be non-smokers in good health who are interested in addressing signs of aging without having to undergo surgery. Sagging facial tissues, volume loss, fine lines, and wrinkles can all be treated with a thread lift.

The Thread Lift Treatment

Local anesthesia may be used for the patient’s comfort, and the threads are inserted with the use of a needle. The threads act as “scaffolding” to help to hold the skin up. The procedure itself can take between 10 and 45 minutes to complete depending on the number and location of the treatment sites.

Thread lifting improves the appearance of sagging skin and contours both immediately and over time. The skin and facial tissues are lifted during the procedure, and as the threads dissolve, the body’s production of collagen is activated. Thread Lift Recovery

Patients can typically return to work and their regular activities immediately after a thread lift. However, vigorous rubbing of the face, such as when cleansing or applying skincare products, should be avoided for at least one week. Some slight swelling and bruising may occur but should resolve in a few days. The face should be washed gently and patted dry to avoid dislodging the threads. It is also recommended that patients sleep with their heads propped up for a few days to help prevent swelling.

Patients will see results immediately after treatment that will refine as any swelling or bruising dissipates. The sutures are absorbed within four to six months, leaving behind the collagen structure built by the body, which can last for up to 2 years.
