There are two main types of dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers from Juvéderm, Restylane, Belotero, and the RHA Collection use natural-based hyaluronic acid to plump the skin and restore a healthy glow. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule naturally found in the human body. It has the powerful ability to attract water molecules beneath the skin and, when used in fillers, this creates a plumping effect that fills in moderate to severe facial wrinkles and/or adds structure to various areas of the face.
The second type of dermal fillers are biostimulators or collagen-stimulating fillers. Radiesse uses calcium hydroxyapatite and Sculptra uses poly-L lactic acid to stimulate natural collagen production. Collagen is a protein in the skin that gives it elasticity and volume. By stimulating new collagen growth, these fillers turn back the clock on skin aging with long-lasting, natural-looking results.
We rely on FDA-approved dermal fillers with various options designed for specific concerns in various treatment areas. For men, dermal fillers can create a more chiseled jawline or accentuate the cheekbones to create a more angular, sculpted face. Dermal fillers are also used to fill in a variety of deep facial wrinkles like nasolabial folds (laugh lines), marionette lines, and wrinkles on the cheeks or jawline. These fillers can also improve the appearance of sunken temples or cheeks that create a gaunt, aged appearance.
Dermal fillers for men can be used to create a more angular, sculpted face that fits the male aesthetic. Most healthy men who want to improve signs of aging or enhance their facial features can receive dermal filler injections. At your consultation, Dr. Tchelebi will ask about any allergies or underlying health conditions you have to determine the best filler or combination of fillers for your treatment. Botox and dermal fillers can also be combined to simultaneously treat dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions and static lines.
After determining the specific conditions that you hope to treat, your appointment will be scheduled in our comfortable office space. Dermal filler injections are quick and virtually painless. A topical anesthetic or numbing cream can be applied at the start of treatment to ensure your comfort. Your provider will place the filler injections of your choice in a few different places to create a smooth, even result.
There is minimal recovery and downtime after a dermal filler procedure. Mild swelling, bruising, and redness may occur but will subside within one week. Although you can return to almost all of your normal activities immediately after treatment, we recommend that you avoid strenuous activities for the first 24-48 hours. Patients can expect to see some immediate results that will gradually improve as the filler settles into their skin. Results from hyaluronic acid fillers will take about 1-2 weeks to develop while collagen-stimulating fillers will continue to lift the skin and add volume for a few months.
