Photorejuvenation is a relaxing treatment used to brighter and tone the skin’s complexion. At Park Avenue Medical Spa, we offer various forms of light therapy technology and will help you create a customized treatment plan that targets your individual concerns.
IPL (intense pulsed light) and BBL (broadband light) are two popular types of photorejuvenation. These technologies use different wavelengths of light energy to target pigmented lesions and vascular lesions on the face and other areas of the body. The main difference is that BBL can target a larger treatment area and stimulates collagen production to simultaneously address signs of aging.
Hyperpigmentation and pigmented lesions can take the form of age spots, freckles, sun spots, and brown spots on the skin. Vascular lesions include skin conditions like spider veins, rosacea, port-wine stains, broken capillaries, and red spots (hemangiomas). The BBL or IPL photofacial treatment can address all these concerns to smooth the skin and restore an even complexion. We also offer BLU-U light therapy and LED therapy for acne treatment.
Photorejuvenation is a versatile treatment that can target signs of aging like wrinkles as well as surface imperfections like acne, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and dull skin tone. It can also be used in many treatment areas, including the face, neck, and chest. This versatility makes it a beneficial treatment for many patients! Men can benefit from the rejuvenating effects of this procedure and feel more confident in their youthful appearance. This confidence can help you feel more engaged in social settings and in your career.
Ideal candidates for photorejuvenation are healthy individuals with skin concerns caused by natural aging or sun damage. Since IPL and BBL target pigmentation in the skin, this might not be a safe treatment for patients with darker skin tones. At your consultation, Dr. Tchelebi will examine your skin and discuss your medical history to determine the safest and most effective treatment for you.
Photorejuvenation treatments are non-invasive and minimally painful. As the laser emits light pulses to the skin, you will feel a sensation like a rubber band snapping. Mild warmth can also be felt but this is not uncomfortable. The laser device will precisely target pigmentation or vascular lesions in the skin without damaging the surrounding area. IPL treatment often takes about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
There is no downtime required after cosmetic light therapy, so you can immediately return to work and all normal activities. However, patients should avoid sun exposure while their skin is healing. If you plan to be outside for extended periods of time, make sure to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. For optimal results, patients often receive 3-6 treatments scheduled a few weeks apart.
We offer a variety of facial rejuvenation procedures tailored to the male aesthetic. Ask about these procedures and more at your consultation:
