How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

CoolSculpting® is a revolutionary fat-freezing technology that literally freezes fat cells, and since fat cells do not like the cold, after two to six months they are naturally eliminated from your body. This treatment can hyper-target problem areas that are nearly impossible to eliminate with traditional diet or exercise. One distinction that’s important to make is that fat loss is different than weight loss (losing pounds). Since every person has different muscle mass (which also weighs more than fat), it’s important to set realistic goals and not focus on losing weight, but rather, how you want to look. What to Expect Before Your CoolSculpting® Treatment?

It can feel a little daunting before going into your first CoolSculpting® session, but the expert staff at Park Avenue Medical Spa will walk you through the entire process.

Before your CoolSculpting® cycle, your provider will first apply a clear gel pad to the area you will have treated. This will protect your skin as a barrier between the cooling panel.

During the procedure as the applicator adheres to your body, you may experience different sensations and this is completely normal. Sometimes patients describe the sensation as pulling, mild pinching, intense cold, cramping, and tingling. It’s really important to remain relaxed during the process. Some of our patients even answer emails, read, or chat with a friend during a CoolSculpting® session.

This treatment is great for showing fat reduction results for patients who are within 10 to 20 pounds of their ideal target weight rather than someone who is 30 to 40 pounds from their target weight goals. Many of our patients find their ideal aesthetic after a few CoolSculpting® sessions. However, it is important that you maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to enjoy your new look.
