Thread Lifting for Men

The PDO thread lift is often referred to as a non-surgical facelift treatment because of its ability to simultaneously lift sagging skin and add volume to the midface. Men who receive a thread lift at Park Avenue Medical Spa can rely on Dr. Tchlebi’s unique understanding of male anatomy and ability to achieve rejuvenation without feminization.

What Is Thread Lifting for Men?

At our office, thread lifting is done with FDA-approved PDO threads made from a dissolvable suture-like material called polydioxanone (PDO). There are two types of PDO threads that can be used separately or combined for dramatic facial rejuvenation. Smooth threads improve fine lines and wrinkles and improve rough skin texture while barbed threads effectively lift and tighten the skin from beneath the surface.

These threads are carefully inserted under the skin and as they break down and dissolve, they stimulate collagen production for long-lasting results. Collagen is a protein naturally found in the skin but as we age, production gradually slows down and existing collagen fibers break down. As a result, the skin begins to wrinkle and lose volume. The PDO thread lift combats this aging effect with immediate and gradual results.

Thread Lifting Benefits

PDO thread lifting is a great way to naturally rejuvenate a more youthful appearance without the need for facial plastic surgery. These threads lift and tighten loose skin while smoothing facial wrinkles and deep folds. Men can enhance their facial contours and achieve a more masculine appearance with prominent cheekbones and a well-defined jawline.

Who Is a Candidate?

The best candidates for PDO thread lifts for men are healthy adults who want to improve moderate to severe wrinkles and sagging skin on the midface without undergoing a surgical procedure. Both fine lines and deeper wrinkles like nasolabial folds and vertical forehead lines can be treated with thread lifting. For men, the thread lift procedure can also increase the prominence of the cheekbones and jawline to create a more angular facial structure with well-defined structures.

The Thread Lift Treatment

Thread lifting can take anywhere from 10-45 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated and how many injections are needed. Dermal fillers and skin resurfacing treatments can also be added to your thread lift for more dramatic rejuvenation.

The PDO thread lift begins with the application of a topical numbing cream so that you do not feel any pain. A hollow needle will be used to place the threads at various points around the cheeks and/or forehead, depending on your treatment goals.

Recovery and Results

Since the PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure, there is almost no recovery time. Mild swelling and bruising are common but will improve within a few days. To limit swelling and ensure optimal results, avoid strenuous activity for a few days and be careful not to rub the treatment area when washing your face. We also recommend patients sleep with their heads elevated for a few days after treatment.

The wrinkle-smoothing effects of PDO threads are immediate and your skin will continue to tighten and lift for 4-6 months as the threads break down and new collagen is stimulated. This new collagen will create a scaffolding structure that lifts the skin to restore a more youthful appearance. These natural-looking results often last up to two years.
