At our office, thread lifting is done with FDA-approved PDO threads made from a dissolvable suture-like material called polydioxanone (PDO). There are two types of PDO threads that can be used separately or combined for dramatic facial rejuvenation. Smooth threads improve fine lines and wrinkles and improve rough skin texture while barbed threads effectively lift and tighten the skin from beneath the surface.
These threads are carefully inserted under the skin and as they break down and dissolve, they stimulate collagen production for long-lasting results. Recovery and Results
Since the PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure, there is almost no recovery time. Mild swelling and bruising are common but will improve within a few days. To limit swelling and ensure optimal results, avoid strenuous activity for a few days and be careful not to rub the treatment area when washing your face. We also recommend patients sleep with their heads elevated for a few days after treatment.
