As you go about your daily routine, dirt, oils, makeup, and dead skin cells begin to build up on your face, giving you a dull, uneven complexion. Sun damage, UV rays, and other environmental factors can cause fine lines to develop. Microdermabrasion uses fine crystals to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, removing dead cells and leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. This non-invasive treatment also stimulates microcirculation, activates collagen and elastin fibers, and is clinically proven to treat fine lines, scars, age spots, and other signs of aging. Microdermabrasion may be combined with other anti-aging therapies for enhanced results.

The Microdermabrasion Process

First, your face or hands will be cleansed to remove any oil, dirt, or makeup. The microdermabrasion wand will then be passed over your skin, and the fine, abrasive particles will gently sand away the outer layer of dead skin cells. The handpiece also utilizes suction to remove debris from the skin. Once the microdermabrasion portion is complete, moisturizers and sunscreen will be applied to soothe and protect the skin. The number of treatments will vary per patient, but typically a series of five to 10 sessions is recommended.

Recovery After Microdermabrasion

There is no downtime required after microdermabrasion; you can return to your regular activities immediately afterward. Your skin may be slightly red, tender, or irritated after treatment, but these side effects should dissipate within a few hours. Patients should be sure to moisturize and use proper sun protection as the skin will be sensitive to the sun after microdermabrasion. Limit your sun exposure as much as possible.

Microdermabrasion Results

Most patients see results immediately after their first session, and they experience continued improvement as the recommended series of treatments is followed. The facial skin will be softer, smoother, and more radiant. Over time, fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, brown spots, uneven texture, and other concerns will diminish as the skin heals and collagen production increases, giving you a more youthful appearance. No one will be able to tell your true age!
